Clear contact paper – creative uses and tips

What is clear contact paper?

Clear contact paper is a self-adhesive product that comes in rolls of material, usually eighteen inches wide and nine feet long into a roll. The paper is durable and also water resistant, which makes it an excellent way to protect items from stains and water damage. The contact paper can be used to cover cabinets to protect it or almost any surface such as book covers and larger projects. For ease of use, the back of the paper has a white grid to make measuring and cutting easier.

Uses

Other uses for clear contact paper can be to cover your shelves, to cover your windows, especially the bathroom window and window frames to protect it from water problems. This is an excellent way to protect furniture in the children’s playroom from spills and creative fingers. The more you think about it, the more ways you will discover how to use this paper.

Some creative uses for contact paper are to make stickers of paper shapes or photos or any object by placing the object on the sticky side of the clear contact paper and then cutting the edge of the object and leaving enough extra outside the object so that you can adhere to any surface, such as a mirror, window, drawer, book cover or even walls. Maybe you want to cut out shapes, pictures of construction paper, glitter, foil pieces or even use materials. The more you work with this idea, the more concepts you will have. The use of small pieces of foil wrapped around a vase has an interesting effect or the use of these small creations on a device to interest it.

To what surfaces will this paper adhere?

There really are not many surfaces that you can not stick to the clear contact paper, including flower pots, trash cans and even photo frames. One thing to keep in mind when doing these kinds of creations is that you will be using the back of the contact paper, so if you turn the object over to stick it to the surface of your choice, you will reverse the set image. It’s like looking in a mirror; the object is reflected or inverted when applied to a surface. In other words, if the object is a picture, paste the front of the picture on the contact paper so that you will see the front of the picture when you place it on the surface.

Windows covered

It’s a bit of planning to use the clear paper to cover windows. The use of the paper on widows not only protects them but also creates a level of privacy. If you use a layer of transparent contact paper, you can easily remove the paper in the future. It is a good idea to use the rental property paper.

To cover window panes with clear contact paper, first measure the window. The older the windows, the less likely they are to be exactly square, so that the measurement becomes critical. Write down the dimensions so you can not forget them and then cut the paper with scissors or a paring knife if you prefer.

Before gluing the cut contacts, you can decorate them as you like, by first printing patterns on the top of the paper. Before placing the paper on the window surface, it should be cleaned and thoroughly dried. To prevent fingerprints from being left on the contact paper while applying the paper to the window, use plain paper to smooth the paper on the window to make sure there are no bubbles left.
